Christian Emigh received his Bachelor of Music degree at California State University, Sacramento, and Master of Arts degrees in German Literature and Musicology from the University of Southern California.  He holds a credential in music instruction from Chapman University and secondary certification as a Kodály Music Specialist from Holy Names University.  Beyond his duties at Concord High School and El Dorado Middle School, Mr. Emigh has served as an instructor at Mount St. Mary’s College, Diablo Valley College, the University of Southern California, and the Los Angeles Unified Conservatory of the Arts for Gifted and Talented Students.  As a performer, Mr. Emigh has worked under the direction of Dr. William Dehning, Helmuth Rilling, and the composer Morten Lauridsen, and has appeared in collaboration with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and the Leipzig Baroque Ensemble.  Currently, Mr. Emigh is in his seventh season as a member of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus.  As a member of this group, he has worked under some of the world’s preeminent conductors, including: Michael Tilson Thomas, Kurt Masur, Bernard Labadi, and the composer John Adams.  This past season, Mr. Emigh also served as an Assistant Conductor for the San Francisco Symphony’s Community Music Makers Project.   In 2005, Mr. Emigh was selected as a member of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers?, and currently serves as a festival adjudicator for the California Music Educators Association.  After completing coursework in 2012, Mr. Emigh is now focussed on dissertation research as a doctoral candidate in Music Education at Boston University.
